Deposit Accounts

The investment return from a deposit account is based on the rate of interest paid on the money deposited. There is a derivative called an interest rate swap, which allows the rate of return on one account to be swapped for the return on another account. The purchase of an interest rate swap is not an investment in a deposit account, but an investment (or more accurately a gamble) based on the difference in value of interest between two accounts.
