Hockey at Beechen Cliff School has taken another step forward in its drive for improvement with the creation of the School of Excellence. Players across all age groups have been selected to be part of the squad, which has received thousands of pounds of financial support from Gray & Associates.

The School of Excellence has been developed by a partnership between Beechen Cliff School and TeamBath at the University of Bath.

All coaching sessions are held at the university's sports training village under the direction of TeamBath Academy coach James Kellock.

"We are delighted with this additional support," said Kellock.

"Not only are we able to personalise each player's training at the University of Bath, but we also have the full support of TeamBath and the use of their facilities. This additional equipment will enhance players' performance."

The players receive extra sessions during the week to supplement the school hockey programme and will train and play fixtures in new sponsored kit.

The funding was invested in top-of-the-range sports clothing, bags and team strips for the select few players in the scheme.

Angus Ross, master in charge of hockey at Beechen Cliff School, says: "We are thrilled to be sponsored by Gray & Associates. We hope this continues long into the future."

And Ian Gray, of Gray & Associates, added: "We are a family-run firm of independent financial advisers. With the fifth generation entering into the financial services industry, we have a strong heritage and a firm future in the business.

"We specialise in pensions advice, using our unique Active Switching Facility together with Technical Analysis, normally associated with daily investment, to obtain significantly better performance for our clients' funds than is seen usually.

"We are committed to excellence. We are impressed with the aims and scope of the School of Excellence in hockey and we are delighted to be involved with the project."
